“Living Out A State of Mind Pt. 2″is the 2nd single offDJ K.O.’supcoming EP,Living Out A State of Mind Vol. 2, which again pairs up the two original Elementality members -Silent Knight&Analogic. Picking up where Pt. 1 left off, the track continues to document the story of Elementality. Pt. 2 goes back to the days of 2005 where SK, Analogic & DJ K.O. were begining to establish themselves in the industry.
Keeping with the traditional formating of the vinyl days, we’ve got a “B-Side” to liberate for this new Digital 12″. While some are becoming familar withDaveNottias a producer, “Destroy” introduces the world to him as an emcee. He’s assisted on the boards by fellow Portland, OR residentHi-Res. It’s with the green light from one of Detroit’s Hip-Hop ambassadors to the World, HouseShoes, that producer DaveNotti brings a remix of “Make’em NV” by J Dilla to the masses. The track was originally released back in 2003 on Jay Dee’s Ruff Draft EP and later re-released by Stones Throw in 2007.
When Elementality Productions CEO, DJ K.O., askedDaveNotti why he wanted to remix one of J Dilla’s tracks he replied, “Who didn’t like Ruff Draft?!?! While all the beats on it were dope enough to not need ANY remixes, I definitely wanted to take a swing at it.” He continued to add, “For those wondering, this acapella was DIY’ed by yours truly.”

A little over a year ago DJ K.O. burst onto the scene with his debut album Picture This… which featured some of hip-hop’s illest emcees and producers. “80’s Babies” is the latest single off DJ K.O.’s soon to be released EP which brings together two of Elementality’s finest emcees on the mic yet again. On this particular track you’ll even find that K.O. has gotten behind the boards to craft the sonic backdrop for East & Silent Knight to reminisce on being a child born and raised in the 80’s.

As Beat*Society & DJ K.O. get closer to releasing “Picture These Remixes”, they’ve teamed to give up and coming producers one more chance to get on the project with the “Ladder of Success” Remix Contest.Here’s what DJ K.O. had to say about the song and opportunity…
This track was the first song completed for my album “Picture This” way back in 2006. The idea for the song came about while sitting at a bar with Analogic (who produced the original track). We were plotting on how to make an entrance into the game. Somehow we got on the topic of ill emcees and started talking about Phonte, Masta Ace & Wordsworth. At that point in time, Tay and Ace had never been on a song before. We thought it would be really dope to hear them all together. Next thing I know I have three ill verses on the struggles of trying to climb the “ladderof success” in the game…but no hook. Picked up the horn and hit up my man K-Hill to see if he could come up with something. Next thing I know I’ve got a hook….PLUS 20 bars from yet another perspective on trying to come up in the game.
So now here is YOUR chance to come up in the game and climb the “Ladderof Success” by remixing the track featuring verses from Phonte, Wordsworth, K-Hill & Masta Ace.The winning submission will be featured on my upcoming album.
